About This Item

London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1929 A good copy in second issue wrapper priced at 2/6. The book is a stated First Printing 1929 in orange cloth with black titles. It does, however, have Summer Lightning at the top of the list of titles opposite the title page. This was also published in 1929, but slightly later that year. The cloth binding has a faded spine with pulling at the spine ends. There is some paler marking at the spine joints; a couple of paler areas on the front board and some fading at the top of the back board. Corners are turned with wear to the cloth. Internally the book is very bright and clean with light toning to paper. There is some staining on p12 ?tea? which is also visible on p 13 and some light marks on pp 167, 168 and 194. The jacket is complete and clean. The spine is faded and there is edge nibbling and some tearing. Some tears have old repairs; some are newer with archive tape. The edge nibbling includes small areas of loss and is mostly around the folds. There is some surface scuffing down the folds. The wrap has Summer Lightning priced at 7/6 as the most recent title.

About E C Books

E C Books is a small online bookselling business, specialising in pre 20th century works:natural history, science, history, and travel, aiming for rarer and more unusual books. Our largest stock area is Natural History, where we have a good range of books from the 1700-1800's, many finely illustrated. Other areas include children's books, particularly late 1800's-early 1900's - again illustrated; and literature pre 1900.When you order books from us we ensure that they are properly packed to protect condition, and we always use recorded or 'signed for' postal services for more secure delivery. Please note that we have recently moved to the beautiful Orkney Islands, where we intend to open a bookshop over the next year. Because of our location we cannot guarantee 'next day' delivery but we will get your purchase to you as quickly and safely as we can. Please note that the buyer is responsible for the payment of any tax or duty on import.
