Price of $3.95 on the front flap of the dust jacket. With twelve illustrations drawn by the author in Chinese style. The thirteenth novel published in the Judge Dee Mystery series, based on political events during the Tang Dynasty, mainly Empress Wu's attempted coup and based on old Chinese crime stories. An exceptionally nice copy. Hubin 820. A very near Fine book with a very faint spot of discoloration on the rear board in a very near Fine dust jacket.

Synopsis

Murder in Canton is a detective novel written by Robert van Gulik and set in Imperial China (roughly speaking the Tang Dynasty). It is a fiction based on the real character of Judge Dee (Ti Jen-chieh or Di Renjie), a magistrate and statesman of the Tang court, who lived roughly 630–700. The book contains twelve illustrations and a map of Canton by the author.
