About This Item

193 pages. Octavo (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's black boards with purple gilt lettering to spine in original pictorial jacket. First edition. All Ed "Fitz" Fitzgerald had in mind was fiddling around with Ariel Ryan, the fetching violinist of the Mozart String Quartet. How was the ink-stained wretch of the New York Daily Press to know that a little night music would turn into a funeral dirge? Because of the lovely Ariel Ryan, Fitz meets fiddler Erik Halvorsen at the Algonquin, where Erik is buying drinks all around and showing off what he says is a priceless Stradivarius violin. And then Erik is lying in his Greenwich Village flat with six bullets in his chest, and what happened to the Stradivarius? Condition: Remainder mark at heal end pages, end pages lightly soiled. Jacket light rubbed, spine sunned else a very good to fine copy in a near fine jacket.
