About This Item

London: Penguin, 1961. First paperback edition, first printing. Published by Penguin in London, 1961. This is a very good copy. The soft covers are toned and lightly marked throughout. The corners are bumped. The spine tips are bumped and there are handling marks to the rear panel. The front hinge is separated at the foot of the spine. The internals are clean and no inscriptions. The text blocks are clean. Overall, this is a very good copy. "Murder in the Mews" is a detective short story written by Agatha Christie, featuring her famous detective character, Hercule Poirot. The story was first published in 1937, and it is included in the collection of Poirot stories, also called "Murder in the Mews." In the story, Poirot is approached by a young woman named Miss Jane Plenderleith, who believes that her friend, Miss Barbara Allen, did not commit suicide, as the police have concluded, but was murdered. Miss Allen was found dead in her apartment with a gunshot wound to the head, and a gun lying nearby. However, Miss Plenderleith believes that the evidence doesn't add up and that Miss Allen was, in fact, murdered. Poirot investigates the case and eventually uncovers the truth. Without spoiling the ending for those who haven't read the story, I can say that "Murder in the Mews" is a classic Christie mystery with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end.
