Austin, Texas: Gammel's Book Store, 1925. First Edition. HB. Black cloth, gilt lettering on front cover, 8vo, [12] 13-147 pp., frontis photograph of the author and 20 full-page plates within text. Account of the author's travel from Illinois to Johnson County, Texas in 1869 when he was 17 years old, his encounters with native peoples in Texas, and his years of teaching among the Choctaws in the territory of Oklahoma in the 1880's. Previous owners writing on ffep, dated 1927, with bibliographical information (Six-Guns 1153, Rader 2060, and Graff 2192). No marks in book, one plate loose but present, binding tight. Covers show light edge wear. Book condition VG-.
