"It is the story of a poet and his son Johnny, and their effort to make the world realize that it must have poetry; of Jasper MacGregor, "the greatest Shakespearean actor who ever lived," who plays marvelous music on the bugle; of people and their laughter and their weeping" (from front flap). Music by Paul Bowles (also titled "My Heart's In The Highlands") appears on pp.105-108, with printed music for voice, oboe, trumpet, bass drum, and Hammond Organ. A well-preserved copy, and uncommon signed. Miller B2. First Printing, one of 1,000 copies. Octavo (22cm); pale grey linen, with titles stamped in red and blue on spine and front cover; blue topstain; dustjacket; [6],7-140,[4]pp. Signed by Paul Bowles at his contribution on p.105. Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped (priced $2.00), with light wear to extremities, a few tiny tears at crown, and a strip of tape reinforcement on verso of same.
