About This Item

New York: Harper and Brothers Publishers, 1958. First Edition / Presentation Edition. Cloth. Fine. Signed limited edition of On My Own by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.. Octavo, xii, 241pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt over blue ink on spine, black signature on front panel. Faint dust remnant along top edge of text block, otherwise fine. Lacking acetate dust jacket. From a limited edition advance presentation set, signed by former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Limitation reads: "This copy of On My Own is one of those signed by Mrs. Roosevelt for advance presentation to friends of the author and the publisher. Eleanor Roosevelt." An exceptional copy. On My Own by former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt follows her life after the death of her husband, President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945. It details her time as a delegate to the United Nations, chairperson of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, and a political activist for democratic causes throughout the United States. It was one of the last publications from Mrs. Roosevelt before her death in 1962.
