NY:: Grove Press,, 1966.. 1st. Hardcover. Collectable, very good. 1st printing of the Grove Press edition, 1966, hardcovers in dust jackets, in slipcase. Nice condition. Vol 1 (I-VI) and Vol 2 (VII-XI), 2359 pages combined; black cloth covers with silver lettering; in black slipcase with paste-on illustration that matches vol. 1; each dust jacket is protected by a clear mylar cover. Books are like new except for extremely slight and sparse soiling on the page edges, and the spine covers don't quite lie flat, probably as from the printer due to the large size of the volumes. Dust jacket of volume 1 has a one inch tear down the spine and the edges of tear and top edge of spine are slightly browned; slight edgewear overall (no rips or chips). Dust jacket of volume 2 has slight edgewear (no rips or chips). Slipcase is slightly worn: the light underboard just barely peeps through the black paper cover on two corners; the paste-on illustration is a bit rubbed and just a little soiled, and the box bottom has some white rubbing marks as if stored on a white bookcase.
