Green-colored boards with blue lettering on front cover and spine. Blue illustration of gulls on cover. Edges in good condition with light shelfwear and some rubbing on corners, most significantly top right. Spine has evidence of some spill damage resulting in a darkening of the green color as well as brown discoloration spots. Some light foxing spots on the head and fore-edge of textblock. Binding is tight. Pages clean and unmarked with minimal age tanning.This novel is the debut of juvenile fiction by the prolific writer Phyllis Whitley, contentiously heralded by the New York Times as "The Queen of American Gothics."
