NY: Vanguard Press; (1959). First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First US edition of the author's first book. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. The black cloth covering the rear board has a couple of small scratches, otherwise fine. The jacket has small closed tears at the top of the front flap fold, and at the bottom of the rear panel. The jacket spine is just slightly sunned. Naipaul's debut novel, although he actually wrote Miguel Street prior to this book. Signed by the author on the title page. A tight, clean copy with no names or other markings in the book and the publisher's price ($3.50) is present on the front flap of the jacket.
