Skarzynski (1899-1942) was a Polish Air Force pilot who made a transatlantic solo flight in 1933 from Senegal to Brazil in a RWD-5bis (SP-AJU), a single-seater Polish tourist plane. It is still the smallest plane to have crossed the Atlantic. He was died in 1942 when his plane, a Wellington in the 305 Polish Bomber Squadron, crashed into the North Sea. Tipped-in photos, fold-out map, marbled endpapers. Some stains on boards, text block edges, and a bit on the Contents page, former owner's name on half-title page, slightly cocked; otherwise, the binding is sturdy and text pages clean. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. .
