About This Item

Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1941. The Riverside Press Cambridge. First Edition. Royal octavo, gold illustrated cloth (hardcover), 117 pp. Good, with wear to covers and upper hinge starting -- still, clean, bright & tight. On the boy’s shoulder perched a monkey. The monkey’s long brown tail curled halfway down the boy’s back. That was a sight to see in school, anyone would admit. The boy was John Bright and the monkey was called Bimbo. Bimbo had come from South America with John’s uncle not long ago. Bimbo turned his head and grinned at Obed. Then he ran his brown paws through John’s curly hair. The next moment he had nipped a peanut from John’s pocket and had popped it into his own mouth. John seemed used to Bimbo’s antics. He worked steadily on the paper spread before him. But Obed couldn’t look away until Bimbo crept down into John’s lap and out of his sight...
