About This Item
Maps & plates inc frontis of Capt Owen. Owen was a British Naval Officer who came to Canada in 1766 as the secretary to Sir William Campbell, Governor of Nova Scotia which then included New Brunswick & some parts of Maine. In 1767 he received a grant for lands that included Passamaquoddy (Outer) Island in the Bay of Fundy. He renamed it "Campobello" in honour of Sir William Campbell.
