Leather rubbed at fore corners, boards just exposed; both volumes cracked at front cover joints, held by bands; both volumes rear cover joints are intact but weakened; leather not at 'red rot' but dry; 3/4 inch chip missing at volume 2 spine tail; textblocks remain tightly bound; volume 2 title page either misprinted or faded to illegibility; moderate foxing throughout both volumes, otherwise clean interiors; leaves remain supple. 24mo, 414 pp (205, 209); engraved frontispieces and numerous illustrations.
