London: William Heinemann. Very Good in Fair dust jacket. 1932. First Edition. Hardcover. Blue cloth gilt titled to front and spine. First edition. Slight spine lean. Scattered foxing, heavier at edges/endpages. The DJ in mylar has a long tear across rear panel, with a small hole in the center, with some loss to text, and some chipping to spine ends. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
Synopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
