About This Item
Washington, D.C.: GPO Magazine. Good. Soft cover. pp589-600. Removed from the Smithsonian Annual Report for 1894. VG. In report covers. Also includes: SUMMARY OF PROGRESS IN ANTHROPOLOGY, by Otis Tufton Mason, pp601-629. From Brinton's article: "I desire to emphasize the fact that the anthropologist will never fully comprehend the science which he professes to follow, will never attain the preception (sic) of its whole significance, if he omits from its study, as not pertaining strictly to it, any influence whatever which bears upon and modifies in any direction the evolution of the human species. This the nation does with a directness and a potency which can not be misunderstood or called in question." The article by Mason reviews some of the important advances made in the field during the year 1893.
