Glasgow: William Mackenzie, 1880. Very Good. Glasgow: William Mackenzie, ca. 1880. First thus. Two volumes in four. Large octavos. Engraved title pages, numerous illustrations, plates, portraits, map, facsimile. Green cloth decorated in black, gilt, and red. Bright yellow endpapers. All edges gilt.
Gilfillan was one of the Spasmodic poets, and finished his life of Burns just before his death in 1878. Includes correspondence as well as songs.
Boards worn with brief exposure. Corners bumped. Bindings give a little and a few plates and gatherings loose or detached. Overall binding holding and pages unmarked.
