Second enlarged and revised edition, considered by some to be the preferred edition (curiously, the only obvious acknowledgment of this newly revised edition is on p. lxii [62] immediately following the photographic plates. 410pp. Extensively illustrated from photographs. Red cloth decorated and lettered in gilt. Tiny owner's name in corner of the front fly, a couple of small rubbed spots or marks on the front board, else an especially bright very near fine copy. The sportswriters' wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is named after Spink. An exceptional copy of a very scarce and important book, usually found well-worn.
