(1). xiii,1045pp. 3 maps (1 colour folding). (2). x,1101pp. 2 maps, biblio., appendices, index. The author spent fifteen months visiting the countries of sub-Saharan Africa as well as the European capitals responsible for their administration. "The purpose of this report is to set forth ther problems which have arisen out of the impact of primitive peoples with an industrial civilization, and to show how and to what extent these problems are being solved by the governments concerned." Despite the slightly unfortunate title this remains probably the foremost and most important survey of the continent in the inter war period. Spine rubbed and worn, a nice set of the first edition in the publisher's dark blue cloth with the signature of the historian Richard Paves to the front endpaper. We have been selling antiquarian books on Africa, Oceania, archaeology, anthropology, travel and the ancient world for over forty years. All our books are carefully catalogued and they are in excellent condition unless stated in the description. All shipments are fully insured at our expense.
