London: Humphrey Milford, 1937. From its first publication in 1789 to the dawn of the 20th Century, White's "Natural History" went through at least 90 editions in the British Isles alone. It continues to delight, and here is a delightful rendering indeed.This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition Thus, an edition LIMITED to 500 copies, designated as part of "The Hesperides Series." Full calf leather binding, ruled in gilt on the front cover; the spine is also ruled, with gilt titling and apples as decorations. Clean text; 300 pages, indexed. Faint bumps and some light rub to the foot of the spine; else a Fine copy of this wonderful work. There is a signature (1937) on the FFEP. Laid-in is a rather wonderful essay on the book by Keneth Rexroth (from "The Saturday Review," May 11, 1968). Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Limited.. Full-Leather. Near Fine/No Jacket.
