About This Item
London: Heinemann, 1897. Colonial Edition. Red cloth, spine and front cover lettered in black, publishers device in black on lower rear cover. The front end papers are ads for Heinemann's Colonial Library, including Forthcoming Volumes, 1897 (which lists this book as forthcoming in July); five leaves of ads at rear, and the rear end papers bear ads for Popular Novels. Stain at base of spine, some repair to inner rear hinge, a bright and attractive copy otherwise. An indistinct rubber stamp on the front end paper indicates that this copy was from a shop in Bombay. First published in 1892, this appears to be the first Colonial issue.
