About This Item
[London : Leadenhall Press, 1891]. A most attractive antique print - a scene at the north-western end of New Bridge Street - a group of passengers crowd on to the omnibus heading for Camden Town from the Elephant and Castle - the bus advertising Pears soap and Van Houten's cocoa. In the background are the premises of L. N. Fowler, publisher of "The Phrenological Magazine". From an original design by the painter and illustrator William Luker and engraved in Paris by Ch. Guillaume & Cie. for the Leadenhall Press publication "London City" (1891). Hand touched and finished half-tone process block. Image area 161 x 212mm (approx. 6-3/8" x 8-3/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
