This program is a special edition for the Cinerama version of the film. I was presented with this book, new, in 1965. Book FINE/ Covers Near Fine. Never Opened. Covers are silver with the title in white and black on front. Stapled binding. Covers are flat and undamaged, no rips, no holes, no stains. Unusually wide book. Contains story and stunning photos of the making of the film. In order to store it in a humidity free clean box, the book was folded about 4 inches at the end. A wonderful copy of this scarce special film program which was issued by Cinerama for Premier screenings of Director Stanley Kubrick’s film. 2001: A Space Odyssey was based on Arthur C. Clarke’s novel and starred Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and William Sylvester.

With all half-titles and general titles (these with vignette illustration) and individual titles to all 104-plays within, these also with vignette illustrations; other vignette illustrations within the text. Thirteen volumes 12 mo (5 x 3 inches), contemporary grained burgundy calf, double gilt rules to sides with floral corner ornaments, all edges gilt. Spines gilt lettered direct with the title of each play within. Headbands, joints, and corners rubbed but overall a very pleasing set; good, strong and attractive. Rare as a complete set and even more so in an attractive contemporary binding.

The book is fine. The price-clipped dust jacket has minor wear at the head of the spine and at the corners of the front flap fold. A stunning copy of this oversize volume, full of still in color and black and white of Fellini's films. The copy has an interesting associative inscription - from Howard Zief, who was a film director from the 1970s through the 1990s; (his most notable films were Private Benjamin and House Calls). Inscribed to Edward Warschilka, who was the editor of House Calls.

Various Photographers , 1930. A group of 32 photographs, 30 b&w and 2 color, ranging in size from 4" x 6" to 7" x 9 1/2", 10 circa 1930's, the rest 1957-1997, 8 SIGNED ( signees to be determined). Credited photographers are: Ginger Gamage, Forbes, Jay Dee (Ft. Worth, TX), V. Sladon, (NYC), and John Lindquist. Some of the photos have writing verso identifying the subjects, including one of Svetlova with Claudio Arrau and Mantovani. Several appear to be other noted people in the world of dance. And the 1930's photos, several of which are signed, appear to be friends of Svetlovas. Marina Svetlova ( 1923-2009) had a carrer in ballet that began as a child in 1931 and carried into the 1960's. She was a soloist with the Original Ballet Russe and a ballerina with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. John Dryden, a 17th-century English author, was known for his famous translations of Greek classics as well as his masterpiece 'Tyrannick Love'. This play, first published in 1670, tells the story of Saint Catherine of Alexandria's martyrdom and the reign of Emperor Maximinus. Alexandria refused Maximinus's erotic advances and was ultimately put to death for it. Dryden tells this story in this play.
