New York: Frederick A. Praeger, Publisher, 1957. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Fifth Printing. Near Fine in a Very Good jacket, clipped, generally toned and soiled, lightly rubbed at the edges. Black cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. Square and firmly bound, lightly soiled at the edges, clean internally. Djilas's anti-communist manifesto of sorts in which he traces the history of communism's development and "why it cannot, under any circumstances, reach any of its socialist goals.

Synopsis

This classic by an associate of Yugoslavia's Tito created a sensation when it was published in 1957 because it was the first time that a ranking Communist had publicly analyzed his disillusionment with the system.
