About This Item
London: The Hogarth Press & The Institute of Psycho-Analysis, 1933. First English Edition. Near Fine/Near Fine. First edition in English, first printing. Bound in publisher's original green cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Near Fine with tanning and bookseller ticket to endsheets, indiscernible former owner name to verso of half-title page. In a Near Fine dust jacket with fading to the spine and edges, light edge wear and chipping, and two small check-marks in ink to the rear flap. A lovely copy, scarce in the original dust jacket.
Synopsis
Original written in German, this was the only English translation authorized by Freud himself: The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud by editor James Strachey. This text is quite useful for its pieces regarding Marxism and "Occult Psychology," and particularly for an overview of the id/ego/superego distinction.
