Cobalt, ON: Highway Book Shop, 2003. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. pp: 230. FIRST EDITION. Pictorial laminated boards. A history of the settlement and growth of New Liskeard, Ontario. There are many vintage photographs, maps, charts, and other ephemera included in the the text. The book includes a family tree of the Joachim (Swishaw) Wabigijiic family, early settlers in the area. It is followed by a fairly detailed family history. The appendices include a 1901 Census for the District of Nipissing, New Liskeard Village. The census has family names, first name, status, date of birth, place of birth, race, and religion...all the stuff no longer allowed. The book carries the town history roughly to the first decade of the twentieth century. A fine copy.
