New York: Published by E. Bliss and E. White, No. 128 Broadway, 1825. 8vo, original half calf and marbled paper over boards. vi, [1], 14-178 pp.

Stated "First American From the Third London Edition," published in the year that Owen established the utopian community of New Harmony, Indiana, in an attempt to implement the principles outlined herein. One of two American editions published in 1825. The other edition was published in Cincinnati, as the "First American, from the fourth London, edition." Both are rare in the marketplace. Neither is recorded at auction in American Book Prices Current online (1975 to present), and Americana Exchange records only a single copy of the New York edition offered by Ernest Wessen (Midland Notes) in 1963.

CONDITION: Good, rubbed with loss of some marbled paper on front cover; foxed throughout, early ink inscription reading "Lexington Library" on front paste-down, early pencil and ink ownership inscriptions of Abraham Howe [?] on title- page, two small tape repairs on verso of title-page, old tape repairs across pages 173 and 176, with a few other small old tape repairs at edges of pages.
