Reno, Nevada: University of Nevada Press, 1984. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. FIRST EDITION. SHARP. Dustjacket very good. Sunning to front, top edge. A 1.25" slit to near spine and small tear to upper edge of rear pane. Gilt lettering debossed to spine of wine-colored, cloth-covered boards. Eight page section black and white photographs. Clean, tight, bright. 337 pp with bibliography and index. The first journalistic enterprise launched within Nevada's present boundaries was a small, handwritten sheet called the Gold Canon Switch, which appeared in 1854. Over the next 125 years, more than 800 newspapers started up in Nevada. But by 1979, only 70 were still being published. "This volume will be of value to historians ranging from scholars to the information only newspapers can give," (rear cover).
