About This Item
London: Hamish Hamilton, 1954. Bound in blue cloth, stamped in silver in great eerie dust jacket by Roy Sanford (far exceeds the U.S. version). The first edition / second impression of the author's first book published two months after the first edition. The highlight of this book is a full page inscription on the front free endpaper of someone Mr. Grubb had great respect for. The inscription is dated 6/11/54; basis for the memorable 1955 film directed by Charles Laughton that starred Robert Mitchum in the title role. 270 pp. . Inscribed and Signed. First Edition / Second Impression. Hard Cover. Very Good ++/Very Good ++.
