Octavo, 125pp. Blue marbled hardcover, black spine, title in gilt on spine. On back panel "HO283" notation in gilt. Stated "first printing 1968" on copyright page. Solid text block, previous ownership bookplate on front endpaper, a near fine example. In publisher's first state dust jacket, $5.00 on front flap, some shelf wear, a near fine example. (Perinn B3e). Originally a theatrical play from 1934, this work is the first publication of that play, with revisions by the author.

Synopsis

Night of January 16th is an innovative play by Ayn Rand. It takes place in a courtroom, and it leaves the resolution of the case of an international magnate's death up to the audience. Someone killed Bjorn Faulkner - a ruthless businessman who conned millions from investors through false investments. Upon bankruptcy, the night of January 16th, Faulkner is seen falling from the top of his building. His mistress, Karen Andre, is on trial.
