About This Item
Published by Dennis Dobson, London; 1963. 8vo. First U.K. Edition, first impression. Advance Review Copy. 236pp. Condition: Very Good+/Very Good+
This is a very smart and collectible example of this title by Asimov. Bound in its original black cloth boards with title in silver to the spine, the binding is square and tight and in very smart condition. There is touch of bumping to the edges, a few tiny marks, and a little patch of residue to the middle of the spine, where the jacket has stuck to it in the past. In all, however, it is in lovely clean, collectible, condition. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from marks or damage, save a little toning as to be expected. The book comes with a request for a review tucked in the front.
The book is housed in its original first issue dust jacket. It is clean and bright and in very smart condition. There is a little shelf wear to the edges and a touch of sunning to the rear edges. Inside, there is a little patch on the spine where is has clearly stuck to the book's spine and torn slightly, however it has not gone the whole way through and there is no hole, it is not visible from the outside of the jacket.
In all, this is a lovely example of this collection of stories by the master of science fiction, ranging from wryly humorous to grimly realistic. The tales all reflect Asimov's uncanny ability to combine scientific fact with the unpredictable, "unscientific" actions of mankind. This lovely book is a rare find and would be the ideal addition to any Asimov or science fiction collection.
Synopsis
Nine Tomorrows is a collection of nine short stories and two pieces of comic verse by Isaac Asimov. The pieces were all originally published in magazines between 1956 and 1958, with the exception of the closing poem, "Rejection Slips", which was original to the collection. The book was first published in the USA in 1959 and in the UK in 1963. It includes two of Asimov's favourite stories, "The Last Question" and "The Ugly Little Boy". Nine Tomorrows has been reprinted several times.
