London: The Religious Tract Society. Good with no dust jacket. 1842. Presumed First UK Edition. Hardcover. Undated, but can be dated by issue number. The first volume was issued in 1837 & the books were produced at a rate of 12 per year, and sold at sixpence for paper covered versions and tenpence for this cloth hardback - noted in the adverts for the series at the front of the book. Probably No 63 as the list in the front stops at No. 62. A former owner's initials and date 1851 on the top of the title page. In the Original brown blind stamped cloth covered hardback. Gilt titling to spine. Wear to the corners and some splitting of the cloth to the head/tail and edges of the spine, but sound. Presumed First Edition. All Edges Gilt. Plain lemon endpapers. 192pp, Map Frontispiece = Site of Nineveh. Interior in nice clean condition. Contents cover = The Tigris and it's Tribes; The Upper Tigris; Site and Remains of Nineveh; Ancient Nineveh; The Middle Tigris; The Lower Tigris; The Shat-El- Arab and its Affluents." .
