New York and London: John Lane. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1916. Limited Edition. First Printing. Hard Cover. LIMITED EDITION ("One Hundred copies printed and the type distributed"). Initialed by the author on the limitation page. Quarter bound in publisher's green cloth over tan boards, title on paper label on spine, fore-edge deckle. Illustrated with six tissue-protected, full-page, half-tone plates. Albert Eugene Gallatin (1881-1952) wrote about, collected, exhibited, and created works of art. Called "one of the great figures in early 20th-century American culture," he was a leading proponent of nonobjective and later abstract and particularly Cubist art whose "visionary approach" in both collecting and painting left "an enduring impact on the world of modern art.". Boards very lightly soiled, top edges very lightly sunned, else fine; unmarked, tight, square, and clean. All illustrations tissue-protected, clean, and bright. NEAR FINE. .
