About This Item

EXACT SAME AS THE 1ST EDITION 1934, brown cloth with labels on the Spine(dirty spine cloth and the label is dirty, too. It might clean up but why de-age it) and Front cover. A paper form clipped to the 1st leaf with form THE NEW YORK TIMES, BOOK REVIEW, When Received..AUG.20, Publisher's Price $2. and then instructions on how to write to the review standards. Their form F 361 5M 10-33 slip is aged with the top edge fading(wonderful) appearance. It has not had a dustcover due to the soiled spine(Maybe able to clean but why it is part of the aging process). I added facsimile dustjacket 2nd state no reviews, wonderful copy for this book.

The clip is rusting leaving shadows on the inside cover and the slip(leave it to show age because the damage is done). The spine is soiled and weaken to the point just before fraying(very close or is fraying) another reason to add a dustjacket) The bottom spine end is worst than the top spine end(but it has fuzz). If I wanted to give it strength I would use cloth tape and trim to the top of the outside cloth, stain to match the inside cloth. But again that could take part of the value away. The cover also has a few scratches, top edge pages are stained dark with no fade. Other edges are slightly age-toned(?).

The next question comes to value. How much for a one-of-a-kind earliest piece of literary history. I just reviewed what was available on the high end. A signed copy with DJ and added note/letter from the author for $7500. He has another with signature laid in for $6,000. at the $4500 is one signed of mine with its 1st ed DJ(I have another 1st DJ without the reviews). There's one around the $1500 stating it's a review copy with a card from S&S asking why you bought the book? that is not cause to believe it is a review copy.

Let's do 10k and I will throw in a signed copy of Inland Island, and another 1st Ed of Now in November that is signed on the 1st leaf and this TRUE one-of-a-kind. Send an email with your offer and I will think about it.

About Pulitzer Prize Books.com

I am a private collector, mainly Pulitzer Prize winners, but I inherited 1000's of hardcovers and looking to sell them off. I will be relocating in the near future, and need to lighten the load.
