About This Item

London : Macmillan Children's Books, 2010. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. John Tenniel. First edition thus first printing 2010. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean. Sharp spine ends. Text block clean, with white edges. FEP is very lightly creased else the pages are crisp and unblemished. Feels lightly read. Near fine condition. Jacket, has some small rubs to foreedge corners, and crimping and wear to edges. The top edge of the jacket is slightly grubby, with a 10 mm closed tear to the rear panel. A near fine book in a very good jacket. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A solid copy of this very nice Alice title, originally written for younger readers, and featuring colour reproductions of Tenniel's fantastic illustrations. A copy that presents very well on the shelf in the archival fitted cover.

Synopsis

The Nursery "Alice" is a shortened version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, adapted by the author himself for children "from nought to five" with twenty of Tenniel's illustrations from the original book coloured and enlarged. It was first published in 1890 by Macmillan, 25 years after the original Alice, and featured a new cover illustrated by E. Gertrude Thomson, who was a good friend of Dodgson.
