The book comprises three short stories: "The Dust of Ages and the Eternal Flame", "Martha of Ban", and "Yuhanna the Mad". A previous owner has neatly copied out a quote from Gibran's poem "Sand and Foam" on the front free endpaper: "Poetry is not an opinion expressed. It is a song that cries from a bleeding wound or a smiling mouth. Kahlil Gibran." Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, front cover lettered in gilt with gilt roundel, top edge yellow, fore edge untrimmed. With dust jacket. With four plates reproducing illustrations by Gibran. Spine ends bumped; near-fine copy in very good jacket indeed, spine faintly toned, edges a little rubbed with a few tiny chips and nicks, two short closed tears to top edge, price-clipped with two ink-stamped prices, one neatly excised.
