Octavo, 178 pages, 34 pages ads; VG; bound in publisher's blue/green cloth, gilt obelisk to front cover, gilt titling to spine; all edges of text block speckled; mild wear and rubbing to binding; with ownership signature of Jesse Edward Moorland, dated Jan 3rd 1927 to the ffep; small newspaper clipping regarding the Obelisk loose within, having caused some staining to the front pastedown and ffep, hand-dated 10-31-26; with seven full-page plates including frontispiece, three in color, and numerous in-text illustrations; shelved case 9. Jesse Edward Moorland was an American minister, community executive, civic leader and book collector whose book collection became the core of Howard University's Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.;
