This work is an interesting look into the commerce of the American states. The volumes looks into details at the trade of books, woolens, buttons, tin, medicines, wine, rice, iron, coffee, molasses, flour, as well as the trade between the States and various countries in the world. The volume confused on the year 1773, during which trade of staple commodities was prosperous, in comparison to the disastrous year a decade later in 1783, when this work was originally published. Written by John Baker Holroyd, the Earl of Sheffield. Holroyd was a politician who is best remembered as being a close friend and the literary executor of Edward Gibbon, who he met travelling in Europe.
