London: Printed for R. Dodsley, at Tully's Head in Palmall, 1749. First edition of West's translation. Cover leather crackled and with edge wear, but all quite sound, contents a bit aged, but mainly clean. First edition of West's translation. Quarto. (vi), (xxii), ccvi(i, errata), (i, contents)315p, (i, blank) (ii, ads). Title in red and black. Bound in full period calf and rebacked to style in six panels with two title labels, the remaining panels densely gilt. This work also contains translations of Horace, Euripides, Lucian, Apollonius Rhodius, Plato and Cleanthes.
With the bookplate of William Calley Esqr. of Burdrop in Wiltshire.
