About This Item
Boston & New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1900. G.H. Palmer (1842-1933) was Alford Professor of Philosophy at Harvard, and his Homeric translation was quite popular. It has been reprinted several times; the illustrated edition from 1929 featured illustrations by Wyeth. Now it is uncommon (LoC holds it electronically). This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the twelfth impression of the First Edition. Maroon cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 387 pages, with a fold-out map. Lightly bumped and light soiling. A nice, solid copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
