About This Item
1724 Fontenelle ASTRONOMY Plurality of Worlds Dialogues Dead Ancient Philosophy
Bernard de Fontenelle was a 17th-century French scholar most known for his work 'Plurality of Worlds'; however, his contributions to the scientific community are lasting beyond 'Plurality'. One of his notable works was 'Dialogues of the Dead', a work that was written as fictional dialogues between ancient and modern philosophers and scholars. Notable figures represented in this work include William Harvey, Homer, Aesop, Socrates, Brutus, Michel Montaigne, Erasmus, Descartes, Moctezuma, and Hernando Cortez.
This rare, 1724 three-volume edition contains his famed 'Dialogues' as well as other works such as 'Elogues'.
