Rheims: Valade, Cazin, 1782. Fourth edition. An engraved frontispiece and title page vignette by Corbin after Laurent, large octavo, pp viii, 141,(i), all edges gilt, a small marginal stain to the lower corners of the frontispiece and title page, a contemporary name of Sundorne on the title page, otherwise just a little age-toned internally, marbled endpapers, bound in a fine straight-grain green morocco, gilt decoration at the borders, inner dentelles gilt, the spine gilt decorated, a little scuffed rubbed and marked, the spine a little dull. The page size is 14 x 23 cms, so this seems to be an unusal large paper copy. It is certainly very generously margined. [With the bookplate of John Corbet, 1751-1817, of the Sundorne Estate, who was an English sportsman of the Shropshire landed gentry and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1775 to 1780. Paris, La Tradition, 1941, 4to, pp. 206 (3), unsewn in printed covers; extra 'chemise' and slipcase, as issued. - An edition of 450 copies, letterpress in blue and black; one of 376 (+ 50) on thick watermarked Arches paper. The illustration consists of 24 colour etchings, with tissue guards all present, by Joseph Hémard, in his own cartoon, comic style - The chemise with cracking joints; slight shelf-wear at the slipcase and the book itself in excellent condition. Paris: A. le Chevalier 1867. (4to) 430pp. Good to very good, no dust jacket. Three quarter leather binding, frontispiece, illustrations index. The leather is scuffed and the corners are worn, there is minor cracking at the inner hinges but the binding is tight, some spotting on the first few pages afterwhich the pages are generally clean and bright. Text in French Language. (Fiction).

First Edition. Paris: Jean Budry & Cie, 1929. In two volumes: La Porte d'Entrée: JAFFA and JAFFA la Belle. Copy no. 321 of the initial 1 - 1000 numbered print run. Photos and full description available on request. Condition generally very good except for water staining to covers (particularly vol.2 extending to FEP, half-title and title pages) and very minor traces of mould close to bindings. Photos are unscathed in both volumes: 449 bandw historic photos in vol.1, plus 370 in vol. 2. : more than 800 photo heliogravures in excellent condition.

Villafranca: For Les Presses De La Societe Des Bibliophiles Cosmopolites, 1875. Limited Edition. Small Octavo. #84/300 copies on velin, engraved frontispiece by Ch. Chardon aine, with another engraving which appears to have been taken from an earlier edition,[1864?] and possibly by the famous Belgian artist, Felicien Rops (who illustrated several of Octave Uzannes works), bound in before frontispiece on stubs, bound in 3/4 blue morocco over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands , spine lettering gilt with compartments pictorially stamped in gilt depicting the bust of a Sator within each compartment, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, some foxing to frontispiece otherwise a fine, bright copy.

Paris, Ed. de La Revue Blanche, 1902, 12mo, pp. 302; contemporary red half leather binding (signed: P. Dayre), with marbled boards, top edge gilt; both orig. wrappers, in good condition, are bound in. - Pierre Bonnard designed the front-cover with a watercolour drawing. - Text-pages browned (as always), and otherwise a very attractive copy. - First edition of the novel, d'un libertinage élégant, set in the 18th century, in Touraine, where Boylesve grew up. The book became, in the first half of the 20th century, one of the most illustrated French literary texts. - This copy has the mention cinquième mille at the base of the front-cover, but note that in the same year of its publication, 1902, the Editions de La Revue Blanche closed down, and its stock was taken over by the publisher Eugène Fasquelle. Future editions were not similar.
