A particular handsome set, complete in six volumes, of sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copies, with scuffed but unbruised tips, wear to tips, edges, extremities, some scuffing thereto, but with neat and tidy paste-downs; not ex-library, with neither highlighting nor underlining. Bound in decorated, marbled paper over boards, one-quarter leather-backed, with four raised bands to each spine, gilt bordering and lettering and fleurs-de-lis, some rubbing and scuffing thereto. Facsimile signature of the publisher to each volume. Tome I: Vie de Saint Dominique precedee du memoire pour le Retablissement en France de l'Ordre des Freres Precheurs (frontis matter, including a fine engraving of St. Dominique, plus 491 pp.); Tome II, Conferences de Notre-Dame de Paris (at 599 pp. plus Table of Contents); Tome III: Conferences de Notre-Dame de Paris (703 pp. plus Table of Contents); Tome IV: Conferences de Notre-Dame de Paris (656 pp. plus Table of Contents); Tome V: Conferences de Toulouse suivies de divers Opuscules (478 pp. plus Table of Contents); Tome VI: Melanges (422 pp. plus Table of Contents). According to the Wikipedia article about him, "Jean-Baptiste Henri-Dominique Lacordaire (12 May 1802 â 21 November 1861), often styled Henri-Dominique Lacordaire, was a French ecclesiastic, preacher, journalist, theologian and political activist. He re-established the Dominican Order in post-Revolutionary France.
