Vintage Books (Random House), 1964. Soft cover. Very Good. 191 pages, with author's Foreword to this First Vintage Edition. Eleven stories set in the fictional town of Olinger, Penna., all first published in The New Yorker 1954-64, three previously collected in The Same Door, seven in Pigeon Feathers, and one appearing here for the first time in a collection. Mass-market paperback, spine faded and rubbed, little shelf wear, edges and pages age-toned. Name of former owner Warner Berthoff and date Jan. 1965 written on title page, his underscoring of two phrases in the Foreword; text of stories unmarked.
Synopsis
JOHN UPDIKE was born in Shillington, Pennsylvania, in 1932. He graduated from Harvard College in 1954 and spent a year in Oxford, England, at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art. From 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the staff of The New Yorker. His novels have won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Rosenthal Foundation Award, and the William Dean Howells Medal. In 2007 he received the Gold Medal for Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. John Updike died in January 2009.

Shipping charge may be reduced on some books weighing less than 1 lb to U.S. addresses. International Priority shipping charges may be reduced on books that fit in a USPS small flat-rate box. International Standard (First-Class Package International) shipping charges may be reduced for a second or more books if the total package weight does not exceed 2 lb.
