Eight pages of halftone illustrations. Very clean black half-cloth binding with green striped panel on spine gilt titled, with green and black marbelized designed paper-wrapped boards. Slight wear to corners and spine ends. Lower front corner gently bumped. Front board has a slight upward rising towards fore edge. Tight and solid with headbands intact. Rough cut. Interior is quite clean and completely free from any markings, no creases. The life and work of one of the greatest authors of all time, Andre Maurois, b. 1885, d. 1967 (pen name of Emil Herzog), French biographer, novelist and essayist. 6.25 x 9.5 inches. 498 pages inc. Bibliography, Notes, and Index. Harper & Brothers, New York, 1956.
