He is primarily renowned in the present day for his novels about characters living and working in the slate quarries of north Wales. OPEN ROAD, in Englsh is paperback. YR OGOF, in Welch is inscribed to P(hil) H.Burton, and dated 1945 (remnants of dustjacket laid-in. FROM HAND TO HAND is English, remnants of dj laid-in.) CAN NEU DDWY, in Wech, is inscribed to Phil (Burton), with dj remnanst laid-in. Philip Henry Burton (30 1904 - 1995) was a Welch-bon radio producer and theatre director largely credited for coaching actor Richard Burton in the early days of his career.
