Peking: New World Press. 1956. Royal octavo, original illustrated cloth backed boards, lettering to spine faded, index, pp 146. Previous owner's bookplate. Tape marks to endpapers. Very good condition. A history of China from the Opium Wars of the 1840s through uprisings and civil wars through the 'War of Resistance against Japanese Imperialism' (1937-1945) and the 'Liberationary War" (1946-1949), with an emphasis on politics. Israel Epstein (1915 - 2005) was a Polish-born Chinese journalist and author. He was one of the few foreign-born Chinese citizens of non-Chinese origin to become a member of the Chinese Communist Party. 1st Edition. Cloth Backed Boards.
