24x32 cm folio hardcover, 3/4 leather binding, spine with gilt compartments and gilt title, marbled paper covered boards, marbled endpapers, bookplate of academic physician to front paste-down, pp. 32-118, 5 full page lithographic plates, 2 are color portraits of two orangutans represented also in text-figures. He was a member of the Société Philomathique de Paris, French Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Sciences, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and Zoological Society of London.

Captain Nicolas Baudin's early 19th-century voyage of scientific discovery to Australia is a little-known event in French and Australian history.
