All three volumes bumped, frayed and worn at head and heel of spine and corners of boards, with corners bumped heavily; numerous marks, smudges and stains on covers; page edges tanned, endpapers discolored. Vol. I front hinge cracked with front free endpaper and first several leaves loose; Vol. II scuffed and frayed at edges of boards; Vol. III bumped at edges of boards, scuffed at upper edge of front board. Vol. I illustrated throughout, including a few color plates, folding map; Vols. II and II consist entirely of tipped-in color plates. In German.
