About This Item

New York: Avery Fischer Hall, 1981. Vintage fold-out mailer for two performances by Dizzy Gillespie's Dream Band, at the Avery Fisher Hall, on February 16, 1981. Stamped on the bottom of the verso from Universal Jazz Coalition, Inc., to noted jazz photographer Jeffrey Kliman (J.G. Kliman), and postmarked February 12, 1981.

The legendary concerts at Avery Fisher Hall consisted of two performances on February 16, 1981. The first was a smaller ensemble featuring Gillespie and bop veterans, Milt Jackson, John Lewis, Gerry Mulligan, and Max Roach, and the second was Dizzy Gillespie's Dream Band, consisting of Pepper Adams, Candido, Paquito d'Rivera, George Duvivier, Goerge Davis, John Faddis, Frank Foster, Chris Fuller, Slide Hampton, Roland Hanna, Jimmy Heath, Milt Jackson, Melba Liston, John Lewis, Benny Powell, Victor Paz, Marvin Stamm, Grady Tate, Frank Wess, and Joe Wilder. The two concerts that evening were filmed and released on video as the documentary "Jazz in America: Dizzy Gillespie Dream Band" in 1982.

7.5 x 10.5 inches. Three horizontal folds from mailing, else Near Fine. Bright and unfaded.
